Nascar Nextel Cup Racing

Nascar Nextel Cup racing is no longer watchable. This auto sport has gone from a great exciting growing sport where you couldn’t wait for Saturday night or Sunday afternoon for the race to start to the same ole boring race, week after week. And if you think that I’m the only one that thinks that this sport has gone down hill over the last few years…just look at all the empty seats every week at the tracks. Even the Bristol race that sells out year after year in both the spring race and night race, had a lot of empty seats at their spring race back on March 21st.

The only races that were worth watching any more for me was Daytona, Talladega and Bristol. But Nascar has figured out away to ruin those races. They opened up the restrictor plate 1/64 of an inch at Daytona this year, and everyone was saying that now the cars have more throttle response and that it would make for more exciting racing. (REALLY) To me, this years Daytona 500 was the worst 500 I’ve ever seen. One of the reasons that race has been so good in the past is that they always ran in a pack for the whole race. That wasn’t the case this year. And then the Bristol race that is supposed to be a beating and banging 1/2 mile cereal bowl once again did not live up to those expectations. All the other races on the circuit are for the most part 1 1/2 mile tracks that are configured pretty much the same and are very boring and unwatchable.

Until Nascar goes back to the way it was, not mandating everything and build the cars to where they look like cars that we drive on the street (stock), I for one am not watching nor will I be spending my hard earned money for race tickets ever again. After all NASCAR stands for (National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing).
