Why Does Everybody Have the Dale Earnhardt Diecast?
Posted by admin on May 4th, 2010 filed in My AlbumsYou still see a lot of Dale Earnhardt diecast models these days. It’s 2010, a decade after the tragic loss of the legend himself, and people haven’t forgotten what he gave to the sport, and they likely never will forget.
Earnhardt was one of those rare masters of his form who was taken from us too early. Like Elvis Presley or James Dean, he revolutionized the game, and the loss still hits NASCAR junkies simply because it seems like he wasn’t finished with his mission. He most definitely had a few more tricks up his sleeve, and the tragic accident lent a premature end to a legendary career, and a legendary life.
To this day, you still see racers holding out four fingers as they finish off the fourth lap of a race, you still see the Number Four bumper stickers on sports cars and pickups alike, and Dale Earnhardt diecast cars remain one of the hottest pieces of stock car memorabilia.
It wasn’t just that Earnhardt was a great racer. There have been a lot of great racers who never achieved the same level of fame and success that Earnhardt achieved. What Earnhardt brought to the game wasn’t just skill, he also brought an aggressive style with no equal. When Earnhardt took the track, he took it over, and he didn’t let anybody pry that control out of his hands. The track was his.
Beyond that, he also brought his own brand of good ol’ boy charm and charisma. As aggressive as he was on the track, he was friendly in equal measure off the track. That charisma is what lent him his unique star power. Sponsors wanted to put him in TV commercials not just because he was a famous racer, but because he was instantly likable, too.
And so, ten years after Earnhardt’s final lap, we still honor the legend with our car decals and Dale Earnhardt diecast cars. Earnhardt was a legend on and off the track and he gave to the fans more than most drivers could dream of giving. He was more than a celebrity or a professional racer, he was also a hero to race fans around the world, an innovator, a genius in his field.
Jeff Gordon has earned his stripes and this Kasey Kahne kid is on his way to becoming a legend in his own right, so not to dismiss what these racers have accomplished, and what they might still accomplish in the future, but there really never will be another like Dale Earnhardt.
